CliftonStrengths: Discovering the Design Within You
What if the key to transformation is not found in what’s wrong with you… but in what’s right?
Gallup’s CliftonStrengths® assessment helps you discover your natural patterns of thinking, feeling, and behaving — the parts of you that feel effortless because they are God-designed. When you understand these strengths, life begins to make sense in a whole new way. You see why you do what you do, what energizes you, and how to create a life and business that align with your unique wiring.
As a certified Gallup CliftonStrengths coach, this is one of my favorite tools to introduce to clients. It’s powerful, clarifying, deeply affirming, and surprisingly fun.
Let’s break it down in a simple way so you can get a sense of how this can support your growth.
What Exactly Is CliftonStrengths?
CliftonStrengths is an assessment developed by Gallup that identifies your Top 34 Strength Themes.
These themes fall into four categories:
Strategic Thinking – How you process information and make decisions
Influencing – How you move people and ideas into action
Relationship Building – How you connect, include, and strengthen others
Executing – How you get things done and bring ideas to life
Everyone has strengths in all four categories, but in different intensities and combinations — like a fingerprint.
Your Top 5 are where your natural brilliance shines brightest. These are the instincts you’ve been using your whole life — often without realizing it.
Why It Matters for Coaching
So many people come to coaching feeling overwhelmed, lost in comparison, or tired from trying to be everything for everyone. CliftonStrengths becomes a compass that helps us:
Understand how you naturally make decisions
Identify what drains you and what energizes you
Reduce anxiety by giving language to your internal patterns
Build confidence through self-awareness
Create habits, routines, and rhythms that align with your wiring
Navigate relationships with more compassion and ease
Set goals based on how God designed you — not cultural expectations
When your strengths are understood and honored, life becomes simpler, more aligned, and more joyful.
How I Use CliftonStrengths in My Coaching Practice
Inside Be Holistically You, strengths coaching is woven into everything — because I’ve seen firsthand how transformational it is.
Here’s what working with me looks like:
1. We start with clarity
You’ll complete the CliftonStrengths assessment, and together we’ll walk through your Top 10. This session alone is often life-changing. Clients say:
"I finally feel understood."
"I thought something was wrong with me… but this explains everything!"
2. We explore how your strengths show up in your life
We look at your relationships, routines, communication patterns, work style, personal rhythms, your faith walk — everything. We begin to see patterns that were hidden before.
3. We uncover blind spots + build supportive strategies
Every strength has a “balconies and basements” dynamic. It’s not about fixing, but about refining and directing your strengths toward what matters most.
4. We use strengths to build your goals + daily practices
This is where everything clicks.
Whether you're working on emotional eating, business clarity, boundaries, self-care, or stepping into a new season — your strengths give us the most effective path forward.
Why CliftonStrengths Fits Beautifully with Faith-Based Coaching
I love strengths because they honor the truth that:
You were fearfully and wonderfully made — on purpose.
Your strengths are part of your calling, your gifting, and your unique contribution to the world.
Instead of striving to be someone else, CliftonStrengths helps you step fully into who God created you to be.
